- AudioTracker Updates
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- V 1.65 20.12.1996
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- Bugfixes:
-
- 1. Bug in "Tape Install" function fixed. This bug only occured
- installing tape file on partitions with more than 16384
- clusters.
-
- 2. Bug in autostart function ("Receive MTC") fixed.
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- V 1.64 11.12.1996
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- Bugfixes:
-
- 1. Bugfix in SMPTE-Output using NOVA grafic interface.
-
- New Features:
-
- 1. AudioTracker automatically starts playmode when receiving MIDI
- time code and the belonging sync mode is active.
-
- 2. The export functions saves the source position into AVR and
- AIFF files. This enables to load such files exactly to the
- same position at any time. Since audio import loads files
- always to the left locator position, AudioTracker offers to
- set the locator to the position saved in the import file.
-
- 3. Some changes to the font "A_TRACK.FNT" were made. Please
- replace the font file in your "GEMSYS" folder.
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- V 1.63 04.12.1996
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- Bugfixes:
-
- 1. Fatal Error while handling fader groups was fixed. This error
- only occured in STEREO output mode.
-
- 2. Further adjusting to computers that works with the graphic
- interface NOVA. Peak, SMPTE counter and desktop bitmaps
- should now be displayed correctly.
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- V 1.62 24.09.1996
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- Bugfixes:
-
- 1. After importing stereo files to tape, the overview manager
- scanned the double length by mistake.
-
- New Features:
-
- 1. Also the DSP module "NO EFFECT" enables offline effect
- computing now. The current level fader settings (including
- master) will be computed to the sample data. E.g. You may
- increase the level of the whole song about 6 dB by selecting
- all tracks, moving all level faders to maximum and selecting
- "Song" as destination range in the OFFLINE dialog.
-
- 2. NORMALIZE function can also work now to harddisk data. The
- handling is similar to the OFFLINE function; the same dialog
- appears to select active tracks and range.
- The function works in the same way than the normalize function
- of the wave editor. There are two passes, one for searching
- peak and another to compute the new samples.
- To optimize levels this funtion is better then the one
- described above, because NORMALIZE prevends overloading.
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- V 1.61b 20.09.1996
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- Bugfuxes:
-
- 1. Another revision of the DSP module "NO EFFECT/CHANNELS".
-
- 2. In the ADAT mode, the selected record tracks had not been
- recognized as destination tracks for the import function.
- Fixed.
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- V 1.61 11.09.1996
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- Bugfixes
-
- 1. Distortion appears using the play function in the wave editor.
- This bug was in the DSP-Modul "NO EFFECT" switched to channel-
- mode only.
-
- 2. Low sound quality on track 2 using the S/PDIF-frequency 44.1
- kHz. This was also a bug in the DSP-Modul "NO EFFECT/CHANNELS".
-
- 3. Bugfix for the level edit function in the wave editor using
- the fading tool.
-
- 4. Redraw errors with NOVA graphic interface fixed. The option
- "Quick Screen" will be automatically switched off.
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
- V 1.60 08.08.1996
- -----------------------------------------------------------------
-
- New Features:
-
- 1. CD-ROM / Audio CD
-
- Import of audio files from CD ROM is now supported as well as
- import of audio CD tracks (or parts of them). Data can be
- loaded either into the Wave Editor (if opened) or into the song
- (means harddisk).
- The Audio-CD-Import is integrated into the standard import
- function. If you select a CD-ROM-drive in the file selector,
- you may not select or input a file name. Clicking on "OK" will
- let appear a CD-track selection to choose the desired track.
- Afterwards the import dialog appears, where you can input
- start- and end time.
-
- Note: Not all of the CD-ROM-drives supply audio data with a
- reliability of 100%! An error check tries to locate them, but
- it may happen that the function must be finished ("Audio CD
- Read Error!" will occur). A retry may be successful al the
- same!
- The progress bar message box, shows you the data errors, so
- that you can decide to interrupt or not. Since not all errors
- can be found, it is recommendable to check the data by ear or
- with the zooming of the editor.
-
-
- 2. PITCH SHIFTING
-
- A new block function in the wave editor allows the tuning of
- audio data of a block about +/- 10 % in 120 steps. 10 %
- corresponds nearly to the interval of one entire tone. Good
- results can be expected if a relatively short block is edited.
- In the same way as editing block level, the tuning can be
- controlled by a fader also when an audio loop runs.
- Quit function by clicking outside of the control panel (left
- button means "OK", right buttons means "CANCEL").
-
-
- 3. SONG OVERVIEW
-
- The new entry "Song Overview" in the structure menu opens a
- window, that shows you all occupied parts of all tracks of the
- current song. You can set songpointer and locators as same as
- in the wave editor. The buttons to select play-, record- or
- wave editor's tracks correspond to the buttons in the mixer
- window.
- The first opening may cause a scanning of the whole song, but
- data will be saved automatically. Later, only the parts of a
- song, that have changed after recording, importing data or
- using structure functions will be scanned, when "Overview" is
- the top window.
-
-
- 4. MIXER / DSP
-
- a) Track Routing
- The DSP-module "No Effect" offers additional to "Bypass" in
- the "channel mode" an output assign. Each tracks can be
- assigned to any of the FA-4/8 or ADAT-outputs. A short
- warning will appear, if you have defined one output for
- more than one track. Hold "Control" while clicking on the
- output-box to renumber all outputs in increasing sequence.
-
- b) Panorama / Level
- Pan faders are replaced by pan pots. This made the higher
- resolution of now 120 (instead of 11) panning positions
- possible.
- Click on the pot and move mouse to the right or downwards,
- to turn right, move to the left or upwards to turn left,
- keeping mouse button pressed. For a simple handling, there
- a three little buttons to turn completely left, right or to
- center.
- Also the resolution of the level faders is higher now.
-
- c) A-D/D-A
- The input level faders of Falcon's A-D (microphone jack)
- have changed to pots and are integrated into the mixer now.
- Also the D-A-output-control (headphone jack) has changed to
- pot. The handling is the same than described for pan pots.
-
- d) The remote control of mixer by MIDI was optimized and
- stabilized.
-
-
- 5. WINDOWS
-
- a) All windows can be iconified. The button with the triangle
- in the right top corner shrinks the window and places it at
- the buttom of the desktop. A single click resizes it.
-
- b) The sliders of Wave Editor and "Overview" show thje current
- scaling and the position of window in SMPTE time.
-
- c) Scaling buttons (±) are parts of the window elements now.
-
- b) Moving windows can be done in "full view mode" (left mouse
- button) or in the known way by moving the outline.
-
-
- 6. WAVE EDITOR
-
- a) The time bar will change from "min:sec" to "bar:beat". if
- you select a musical grid. The signature can be input in
- the same way as the tempo (bpm).
-
- b) The menu options "Reserve UNDO Buffer" and "Use Alternate
- RAM" were replaced by the entry "Memory Configuration".
- This new dialog allows to activate the named options and to
- restrict the memory, that the editor can use. This can make
- sure, that functions will also find enough memory, when the
- editor is open. If you mainly work on short parts, the
- shortend loading- and saving times will be agreeable.
-
- c) The position of the mouse and the slider display can be
- switched now between "SMPTE" and "Samples". Change mode by
- selecting the entry "Show SMPTE/Samples" of the option
- menu.
-
- d) Each of the block edit function can be selected directly by
- key. The shortcuts are shown in the block edit pop up menu.
- Also the "Current Range" can be changed by key:
- "M" -> "Maximum", "," -> "Locators" und "." -> "Window".
-
- e) UNDO function was optimized. The data swapping works faster
- now.
-
- f) Some bugs in the wave editor's audio output were fixed.
-
-
- 7. OTHERS
-
- a) AudioTracker does work a little better now with graphic
- interfaces like "NOVA". The option "Quick Screen" has to be
- switched off if your computer runs with an external graphic
- engine!
-
- b) Recording with the ADAT-Interface in songs with less than 8
- tracks is now possible, but you can only record mono or
- stereo.
-
- c) The keys "[{" and "}]" set the songpointer to the left
- resp. to the right locator.
-
- d) The "INSTALL TAPE" dialog shows additional hd-parameters of
- the selected drive, e.g. size of sectors and clusters,
- numbers of clusters total and free etc.. This may help to
- find out the reason, if tape file could not be installed.
-
-
- 8. DESKTOP
-
- The Color dialog allows you to select the sample colors of Wave
- Editor, the color of tracks in the Overview-Window and the
- desktop background. Instead of an uni-colored desktop, you may
- select a GEM image (IMG) with 64 x 64 or 128 x 128 Pixels.
